The Elmore County Probate Office and its divisions are located in the historic Elmore County Courthouse in downtown Wetumpka at 100 East Commerce Street. The Probate Office consists of several Divisions. These include Probate Court,
Recording, and
Elections.
The functions of the Probate Court Division and the Probate Judge are to hear and preside over Court actions involving Probate of Wills, Estate Administrations, Commitments, Partition Actions, Condemnation Actions, Adoptions, Conservatorships and Guardianships. The Probate Court Division and Probate Judge are also responsible for processing Notary Applications, Name Changes and Legitimations.
The Recording Division records and maintains various filings including, but not limited to: Deeds, Mortgages, Judgments, Affidavits, Delegations/Acceptances of Parental Authority, Liens, Releases, Notaries, Plats, Powers of Attorney and Marriage Certificates.
