Agenda Request for Consideration of Topic


Any citizen who has a problem request for maintenance on the county road system is encouraged to contact the Elmore County Public Works Department at (334) 567-1162.


The Public Works Department operating hours are Monday through Thursday, 6:00 am to 4:30 pm.


After hours, non-emergency requests can be left on the department’s answering service. Emergency requests can be made by calling the Elmore County Sheriff's Dispatch at (334) 567-5441. The Dispatch Office forwards all requests or notifications to the Public Works Department’s on call personnel to address the problem.

Luke McGinty started as an Assistant County Engineer with Elmore County in 2009, he received the title of Deputy Chief Engineer in 2017. Luke McGinty has been the Chief Engineer for Elmore County since 2021. He previously worked one year for the Alabama Department of Transportation prior to coming to Elmore County. Luke is a graduate of Auburn University with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree and is a licensed professional engineer in Alabama.


Luke is the current President of the Association of County Engineers of Alabama (ACEA). He also serves on the National Association of County Engineers (NACE) Safety Committee and the NACE Legislative Committee. Luke is a former District Director of the Alabama Association of Floodplain Managers.
