Commissioner Henry Hines took office as County Commissioner of District 1 on November 11, 2020. Commissioner Hines is an Elmore County native and a graduate of Wetumpka High School. Henry attended Alexander City State Junior College. 

Commissioner Hines is a past member of the Alabaster City Council in Alabama. Henry also served on the Alabaster Water Board. He recently retired as a Regional Product Manager from Southern Pipe and Supply. In December 2023 Commissioner Hines was selected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Heart of Alabama Food Bank.

Commissioner Henry Hines previously served in the United Air Force and Air Force Reserve. Commissioner Hines is an active member and area representative for the Homeowners and Boat Owners Association (HOBO) on Lake Jordan. In his spare time, he has volunteered as a mentor for athletes and has coached and officiated various sports.

Commissioner Hines is a member of Union Congregational Christian Church. Henry has been married to Mary Elizabeth Hines for 51 years, and together they have three grown children (Heath Hines, Hunter Hines, and Dr. Heather Hines Ray) and eight grandchildren.
